Cambridge, UK: We are excited to announce GitLife Biotech (GitLife) as the third winner of the o2h tech Kickstarter 2.0 Competition. Based out of Newcastle and Cambridge, UK, GitLife is a spin-out from Newcastle University, co-founded with Cambridge Future Tech, and led by leading synthetic biology and computer science academics in partnership with dynamic entrepreneurs.
Biological assets already underpin many key industries and their importance is accelerating. Synthetic biology is a key focus area for UK Research & Innovation. It involves the study and manipulation of genomes to optimise biological assets for their intended use, the mission of GitLife Bio is to set the global standard in the management of provenance and integrity for biological assets; enabling the potential of synthetic biology to be realised worldwide.
GitLife Biotech offers the developers of gene-edited biological assets the ability to prove both ownership and provenance securely. Their technology combines a digital version control system, www.CellRepo.com, with DNA-based biosecurity tools. Version control is a system that records changes to a file or set of files over time so that you can recall specific versions later. This concept originates from software engineering, where software source files are version-controlled. In CellRepo, each change you make to your strain is logged with full detail, uniquely barcoded, so that each and every change made to a strain can be stored and retrieved at leisure.
We are delighted to support companies like GitLife, who are committed to making a positive impact on the Healthcare and Biotech industry. The tech kickstarter programme will provide dedicated developer bandwidth to accelerate the development of their web application “CellRepo”.
At o2h technology, we understand the importance of supporting innovative seed-stage companies in the healthtech sector during their early-stage development. Our goal is to provide them with the support they need to succeed in their digital transformation journey. We believe in working collaboratively with these very early-stage companies to help them overcome the barriers they may face when it comes to designing, building, and scaling their products which is why we launched the tech kickstarter competition.
Prashant Shah, CEO of o2h technology, said:
“We love working with seed-stage companies focused on human and planet health. We are a mission-driven organization and understand the importance technology plays in helping these seed-stage companies get their innovations off the ground.”
Leanne Hobbs, Chief Digital Officer of GitLife Biotech, expressed her gratitude for the support provided by the tech kickstarter competition and said:
“Securing a place on the Kickstarter program is not just a win – it’s an opportunity to pioneer a fresh approach with a dedicated software team. A chance to innovate without compromising our current endeavors. Success here isn’t just progress; it’s an enhanced foundation for our future.“
About the tech kickstarter competition
The first wave of the tech kickstarter competition was a great success. We received applications from more than 25 seed/early-stage companies working on some really exciting and innovative ideas in the field of life science, tech/AI, and green innovation.
The tech kickstarter competition is designed to provide a boost of tech software/web development to seed-stage companies, who have secured some initial funding and are looking forward to building MVPs, Web or Mobile apps to kickstart their digital journeys or supercharge their existing MVPs by expanding their functionality with additional resources.
At o2h technology, we love working with innovative early-stage companies and helping them build tech products that can have an impact on human and planet health. Winners of this competition will receive a dedicated team of developers and end-to-end project management services to support their digital transformation journeys through all phases of application development including design, code, quality check, and implementation.
